Is Leica M Edition 60 a future Classic?
6 Nov 2014 1:25AM Views : 505 Unique : 367It is not long ago that I blogged about future Classic cameras. What special features could they have, or have not?
Leica has caused a stir following its decision of to produce a digital camera that LACKS the REAR LCD SCREEN.
I honestly believe that it will become a future Classic. You can hardly find one more adorable camera than this rangefinder.
The presence of a full frame censor on a tiny body, compared to the DSLR mammoths, reduces weight and thus fatigue.
Now, to me, excluding the LCD screen at the back would help the workflow of a wedding photographer or children's portrait photographer (for example) to focus on their subjects. It's the same way it happens with film cameras.
I do not expect the volume of sales to be greater than those of M for example, but I can see the appeal to some of the 'purists' who grew up using transparency and colour negative film. Experience of course is built up with practice, so whatever camera you own, do not wait for the future Classics to come along; use it!
