Firstly apologies as I shall be absent for some days as we are redecorating and I won't have time or the energy to be on siteSadSad.
And many thanks for all the kind comments on my last posting Back to the Hills.

The same crocus, taken under different conditions of lighting and with different lenses: V 1........cloudy dull with Nikon DX 18-200mm., and V 2..........bright sunlight with Tamron Macro and with b/g converted to black..........personally I prefer V 1 but wonder what you'll thinkSmileSmile??? I think that softer lighting is more flattering for both flowers and faces.

V1 for me as well, wonderful. I also like V2 for the crispiness of the petals but the shadows on them and the blurred stamen are a bit distracting.
3 Apr 2013 4:26PM
Two stunning images, Ronnie!
Because of the excellent depth of field, I think V1's the one for me today - but I do love V2!!Wink

Slight preference for V1 Ronnie but 2 super images, great detail in both,

Both stunning images here Ronnie - difficult to choose - think might go for V2 for the strong, sharp petals. Smile

v2 has impact and a bold shadow but the softer light brings out the detail and texture better. A small but important point for me is that the crocus is not really a cut flower and looks out of place on the black background.

Good luck with the decorating, Ronnie. We've got some planned but not starting anything until I can leave the windows open without freezing over!!

In many ways I love to see a flower captured in its own environment, however when photographed against a dark background one can really appreciated its beauty.

On balance I think V1 is better with sharper stamen.
I do like the perfection of black b/g but never thought of Dave's point of view about crocus not being a cut flower!
Take care with your back when doing that decorating.
