V1 would have been my choice Pamela - I don't know how big the gardener is but you have made him appear to be overseeing the project. Great title Smile
V4 is quite striking in shape - may benefit from a little more light to give him the metallic look that the others have. Did you add the sky ???

Four superb compositions - maybe a slight preference for V3, for the foliage frame.

Thanks so much for your visits. It's interesting to see what your preferences are.
BRIAN: Yes, I added the sky to V4, well spotted. The sky was so bland on the day. You're right about a bit more work on the head, but I'd probably have to go back to square one. What would you do?

Has to be V4. The sky didn't really help much, but you did pretty well with what was there. He's such a brilliant subject though, isn't he? I sympathise, because it was hot and hazy when I was there and my skies, and the domes, blasted out completely... Carol

Now I know why the Mistress of the house has all these romantic assignations with the gardener, in all these Mills and Boons books the wife reads !! But after he has finished in this garden,I doubt he will have the energy for anything else !!
And Pamela,I do tell porky pies, but NEVER where rust is concerned !!

Hi PJ, Loke TrevB, I'd not noticed his dangly bit, it must've been a really windy day judging by the bénd in it. Funny the things you women notice. V1 one is also the one for me.

Interesting display, well presented. I prefer V4 but a tweak in Curves would bring out more detail in the shadow.

Version 1 with a crop from the left to lose the distracting leaf would be my second choice and V4 romps home the winner in my book for its great dynamics .
