Some of you may know immediately what these two abstracts are taken from.
They are biomes at the Eden Project.
I like the first one for the rainbow effect on the dome, and the second for the patterns of the hexagonal cells.
The biomes are the biggest conservatories in the world. You could fit the Tower of London in the rainforest biome. Building these ‘lean-to greenhouses’ on an uneven surface that changed shape was tricky – ‘bubbles’ were used because they can settle on any shaped surface. The architect got the idea while washing up!
