Both these shots are absolutely top notch, Pamela: beautifully lit, and captured with exquisite detail. Can't decide which I prefer, both are so good.

The centre of the flower is the main interest for me, like twisted tissue paper. V2 conveys that better for me, V1 has a bit too much going on.

gosh Pamela, you have got a gem here, what a gorgeous colour, I have never seen one so beautiful.... this is one you must save the seeds of and sew some more for plenty of opportunities in the future for capturing this stunning flower.

Nice to get a visitor like this beautifully photographed and presented.I bought a mixed bag of bulbs in the spring but when I got them home the labels etc were missing so I had a lovely surprise when a blue poppy appeared, waiting with baited breath to see what else grows in the pots.

Now the poppy IS beautiful and impressive. But that isn't what blows me away. It's your photography of it. Magnifique.

PS...the aliens: Apart from forcefeeding me cheese (once again, no complaints there), they only probed me with questions. I asked whether they were gonna experiment on my body and they went, "Er...we'll pass this time".

I was quite insulted.

Truly exquisite photography!! There is no doubt in my mind that this is the most superb image of a poppy I have ever seen - I am gobsmacked ....as they say somewhere or another.
