Whitchurch Silk Mill 1

By pamelajean
Continuing my abstract series.

This mill is a Living Weaving Heritage, built in 1815 on the River Test.
It is the oldest working silk mill in the UK still weaving in its original building, and still uses some of its 19th century machinery, including two power looms.

These are 3 versions taken at the silk mill in an attempt to use an interesting angle, looking along the row of spools.
I have put them in the order that I prefer myself.
But I would value your opinions as to which you feel works best.

I was delighted with the response to my red hollyhock, and with all of those lovely User Awards.

Pamela.

Love this - colour and angles! Horses for course, but I actually prefer the perspective on version 3 - makes it a little more dynamic and brings the perspective in to play more. Draws you down the line of reels.

Very good set, with the lead my favourite. Mainly because the silk reels and bobbins start from the bottom corners, leading through the image to infinity. It is in focus from the front to back with a nice range of colours in the silks. My only crit' would be, I would like the picture to have been slight wider, so we could get the silk reels nearer to the bottom corner. However, I still like it.

Three fine captures Pamela, and like the fact the bobbins all have different colours rather than all the same. I do like the viewpoint of V1, but would like to see a bit more at the top to show the end of the line-up, as V2 does 😃👍

Great subject Pamela, my preference goes to V1 much more dynamic and I do like the way the dof drops away towards the back.
