The Crosby Men 2

By Paree
Yes! Yes!
I know I've cheated just a little and given my men a lovely sunset, (see previous picture for original)
These wonderful Iron men stand all along the Crosby shore line near to Blackpool, there are 100 of them spaced out on the beach, and in the sea.
each standing alone motionless on the flat coastal shore, braving the incoming tides, perhaps sometimes submerged, and seeing away the outgoing tides
We saw them last week in a howling gale storm, I have brightened the photo up a bit.
We went to see them as they are soon to be moved to America, after being on the continent, they keep being moved after a few years to a new home.a new country.
These 100 men life-cast statues are of Anthony Gromley who used his own body to make the casts, (which are all identical) he also made also the Angel of the North sculpture
hope you enjoy them
maureen

It's a pity they're going before I've had a chance to see them but we'll have photos like this to remind us. Thanks.

Nice picture, I hadn't realised how many of them there are until I saw them on 'coast' on TV - very impresive. I like the colours in this picture.

YAY! So NOW I know what they are!! I'd seen and heard references to Gromley men and Crosby men in other people's pfs but never did get round to finding out what they're about.

Thanks so much for the info, Maureen! AND the gorgeous image Smile
