Red is the colour of fire and blood, so it is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Red is an emotionally intense colour.
I've used layers from my daughter's glass door over this poppy to add distortion and colder colours, as the memories of the First and Second World Wars fade, become colder, get distorted by film makers and fiction etc, etc.
Still for some who were part of it the red still shines through - remember those people today.
For those who were not part of it our remembering is quite likely to be less focussed.
Others are still experiencing it in different parts of the world.
Here in Birmingham we have a whole section of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital given over to treating injured military when they are flown in.
Lets all remember - not only the sacrifice, but also those who continue to suffer as a result of it.
Thanks for looking
