Rome!

Any serious travel photographer has got to go to Rome. What a place.
I was in Rome last year, November, first week.
It was a busy and eventful year for me, 2011, and only now I'm going through the images saved as raw files on disk. I must go back to Rome, alone or with another photographer. I need a week of dedicated shooting. A week is barely enough.
The Art leaves me breathless, the fountains, domes, marble, churches, food, festivals, piazzas, museums, architecture, and then of course there is the Vatican City, phew, I hardly got inside before my camera was overheating, LOL!
I've been to many wonderful places on my travels but Rome, so far, tops the list.
Ryan air have some stupidly cheap tickets... perhaps in a week or two, I'm going back.

I guess I am not a serious travel photographer as I have no interest in going to Rome !

I just imagine Rome is rather packed with people getting in the way of a composition, restrictions on using a tripod, both outdoors & indoors and possibly a few other problems related to photography as well.

Maybe the food & wine would be nice though ? Wink

I always try to go a-wandering just off the season, preferable before the season as everywhere is freshly painted for those darned tourists, LOL! However I did Rome from 2nd November and found it far less crowded than Istanbul the year before.
All that Bernini and Michaelangelo was so inspirational, honestly found it breathtaking, and the later sunrise meant a bit of a lie in too, perfectSmile
