Tally Ho

Hurricane Series

Tally-Ho

The Mkll developed version of the Hurricane equipped with four 20mm cannon was converted into a devastating ground attack aircraft. Taking the fight to the Luftwaffe after the Battle of Britain the Hurricane squadrons were tasked to wreak havoc in Occupied France. Targets of opportunity in the transport and military infrastructure were damaged by the massive fire-power afforded by the new cannon armament.

The image depicts a flight of four Hurricanes, with a radio call of ’Tally Ho’, falling upon a selected ground target - keeping close together to gain maximum impact and hopefully pass through before the local defences are alerted.

So realistic, it's hard to believe that this is not an original photograph: excellent arrangement ofvthe wing across the frame, Pat.
