Thanks for dropping by my portfolio. I'm glad to see you're still about, I haven't seen your work in a little while. How are the cats?!!!!
Hi Paul,
Thank you for the very detailed crit and the suggestions you made! I really appreciate it.
As usual, I tend to rush into the shot and not consider all the angles or possibilities.
What attracted me here was the fall of the light and the beautiful complementary colours .... and I know that I tend to go a bit overboard with the shallow DOF f2.8 offers.
You have some marvelous work here! I especially like the two of that beautiful Forth bridge.

Hey, thankyou for the advice. It's not harsh at all. If no one tells me I'll never learn! I know the focus was off but that cat NEVER sits still that was the best of the lot. Thankyou for your help much appreciated.

Hi Paul. I have just read the comment you left for me and am both pleased and flattered by your generousity. The amazing and sometimes humbling thing about this site is that our images are seen and commented on by some very talented people which to me is a great driving force. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

hi Paul, very simple really, 18-70mm lens and the tulip setting on the camera, manualy focused, then obviouslly resized in paint shop pro, that was it. i have ordered a macro lens of the net, i'm waiting for that arriving, as you can see i'm getting addicted to close up's.
cheers marc.

Hi,
I've just been browsing through your portfolio and realised you live in Crete (or is it a holiday home). I wonder if we know anyone in common - you're obviously a cat lover (as am I)perhaps we've even met (but I do have a terrible memory for people I'm afraid). Am not actually on the site very much at the moment due to outside commitments but will keep an eye on you. There's also a couple of Cretans who upload occasionally plus another UK expat. Smile

Hi Paul, Will be pleased to look at your landscapes but I am a year older than you and a novice. The pieces of advice I was given are:
Remember your image is what you see in the viewfinder - not the surroundings or what you know to be there.
Try to include some foreground detail to give your composition a feeling of depth.
Don't snap away for the sake of it if the light is rubbish as you will just be disappointed.
My idol is Joe Cornish - have a look at his website
He says a good image has TLC (timing, lighting, composition)
Hope this helps

I Robin, I apologise for not getting back to you about the reseviour. To tell you the truth, I did not know, it was one of the many drives we took when just arriving in Ireland. Visited so many different areas and for a while there you had me stratching my had saying, exactly where in Kerry was that? Now you have cleared that for me. Yes I do live in a beautiful country, I'd always dreamt of Ireland while still back home, and always imagined it to be like that shot I took, All the pictures I take of Ireland is alway how I imagined and see Ireland. To me a magical place with some many hidden treasures to be seen. I'm seriously looking at getting an E2 membership, then the photographs can get enlarged. Thanks once again for your positive feedback. Best wishes and give all those gorgeous cats a nice cuddle for me!!
