Nice try paul. I can see where you were trying to go with this one! Technically the picture is ok, although the background is pulling you away from the flower, especially the green area. The flower is also dirty, a quick brush off with a paint brush would have cured that. Next time try putting a piece of black card or something behind the flower to lift it off of the page! The lighting is nice and you have some good shadows, plus the positioning of the flower is good. Just let down by a few area's that could so easily have been avoided! Keep practicing and i'm sure you will get some superb flower shots soon. Have a look at Samantha or Jane Smiths portfolio's, both are superb!
