I thought this one gave a better view of bike racing at speed and have managed not to include the crowd or any kind of background during the pan - some luck involved!

He does, however, look to be on grass rather than a road. Comments will be of use, especially from the bike and high speed sport fans amongst you.

Auto Focus on continuous, monopod and ISO500. Aperture priority at f7.1

you've answered it yourself, in my (humble) opinion i think there should be some sort of track in the shot - unless of course he has overshot and is grasstracking, apart from that it's a cracking shot, well done

Pin sharp and a great feeling of speed got to agree a bit of track would have helped but great shot all the same

I'm not into motorbikes but this is quite a stunning shot to evoke speed and excitment.
Without reading your intro I thought the bike was on thr grass. JNC
