Just been going through images from a trip I took last May to Ullapool. This is from the top of Stac Pollaidh and was one of those look behind you moments. I was taking images of of Cul Mor to the north when I looked behind me and saw this. It was all a bit of a rush to try and photograph this before the amazing light vanished. I think I could have done better with the composition, hence the big crop but time was against me. Still worth an airing for the amazing light and that wee rainbow.

Stac Pollaidh is only a little mountain but it does provide some brilliant views. Nice warm glow.

Always wanted to climb Stac Pollaidh... Looks like a fantastic view from up there. I especially like the transition from the orangey-reds on the right to the blue tones on the left.

And the rainbow is a weird effect. Looks like the semi-circle continues but you're normally at ground level when you see them.

All in all a really great image.

Paul this is stunning, the light is magical!
I do know what you mean about looking behind you, some of my favourites are exactly the same!
The crop really adds to the drama and makes you focus on all the lovely light and 'bow. Large is a must and the colors really add to the magical mood this image portrays, very well seen and captured!

Hey, many thanks for the award , Wolfy. Its much appreciated. If I'd looked behind me 5 minutes later it would all have been over. Amazing how you can wait for ages for the light then it can appear and disappear in minutes.

The light in Assynt seems to dance across the mountains, usually just out of reach in my experience, but you've caught it bang to rights here Paul. This is one for over the mantlepiece as far as I'm concerned, wish it was my mantlepiece and my image.

Rich, wonderful light. This must have been quite the sight - and it's always so fleeting and quick.
I've not tried my hand at many landscapes, but one day hope to at least capture a few good ones. I seem to gravitate mostly to people pictures.
Enjoyable to see landscapes well done.
