Good exposure, Paul and background not too intrusive. There is a good interaction between the two players. It lacks a bit of impact though, I suspect because the players look a bit small in the frame. Part of this is down to the fact that they are small but the main reason is that they are too far away for your lens even though you are using a long focal length.
Very difficult to get good images of amateur sports unless you can get permission to get rather closer. The cracking shot here is to lay on the ground close to the base looking up with a wide angle - could be set up, but not possible in play. Background reasonably neutral, but still a bit insistent and needs to be a bit sharper.
The problem would seem to be movement but difficult to understand at 1/4000 sec? Did you help by using a monopod - watch the pros at tennis, cricket etc - they all use monopods.
