Thank you all for your replies to my shot. I will answer each one in turn and answer as best as I can. #1 It is cropped so closely in as what it is sat on reflected the bright sunlight so much, so I tried to get rid of as much of it as possible. It was shot on a tripod but shot using my hand on the shutter button, wrong I know. I generally use a remote but had not got it ready when the fly appeared. As a relatively newbie to manual shooting I go off what the screen says is right but will try to increase as you say. And there will be plenty more flies around to practice on. #2 + #3. As to the tiny movements in macro photography I had considered one of the macro rails so maybe one of those could be acquired or a set of extension tubes. I looked at both modifications and did find that both were an improvement on mine. I would like to thank you all for your feedbacks and will hopefully get better shots as I do enjoy macro and them flies! Thanks!

I would like to thank all three critique's, i must admit I did not have my tripod, not that that would have mattered as it will not go to ground level(new tripod needed), I had read that you shoot flowers from below not above so I got the camera down as low as I could but it is something to think about, maybe a bean bag sort of thing would keep it still. As for gardening anything out I afraid that is beyond my ability but I will try. Point taken on the exposure, a step down I think. My wife cropped it suare and put it on a card and it works very well as it is only 4x4. Thank you all again, I try to take everything on board and try to learn everyday.

great thought provoking image, liked the two sets of lines(kerb and paint) not quite straight tells a story all on its own. Very good
