I had this lens on my 7D and loved it, nice and sharp, great focal range and IS is a bonus. I changed to full frame and went to the 24=105, and I think this lens is easily as good as that.

Depending on what you mostly shoot, but if you will be taking any landscapes, then the 24mm on the 550 will not give you much. Another option you may want to consider is the 17-55, a great quality lens, not much cheaper than the 24-70, but the 17mm, would probably be more benefical.

    Just a thought

The 10-20 is a cracking lens, well worth the investment for landscape, architecture etc,

    Love mine.

Went from a 400D to 40D and the difference is huge overall is just a better camera to hold, use and maybe its my imagination, but my shots seem to be better.

The comment above serves no purpose and is unhelpful to the people who have been trying to run the site for the past year or so IMO of course. The domain is still registered to the guy who was convicted of 21 sex offences against youngsters and I for one don't want to contribute to his income by visiting the site.

Didn't know that, jesus time to start using somewhere else.

I'm flexible with times, so an early start would be no problem.Dont know yet, depends on the general concensus of maybe sunrise but that is directly proportional to the amount of guinness consumed on the fri , play by ear, you can phone me late fri for an update.

Might be safer to call on the Saturday morning, you might remember what you said to me then :>

What are the plans for the Saturday, or is it just a case of see how hung over you are and then make some plans. I could probably try and get up early, if you are doing any sun rises or anything. Although I might take a short detour to take another shot at the 'Dark Hedges' in Amoy if anyone is interested.

Sorry I'm not staying overnight, it sounds like it will be fun.

Sorry folks, my name is Peter Barber, I would love to catch up with more folks from the North West, at this weekend or other outings. I have been following other forums, but didn't know there was a thriving Irish community on here, so looking forward to becoming part of it.

And maybe post the odd photo or two.

The Saturday is the most likely day trip for me, although the model shoot would be more appealing, but unfortunately my better half is going on a pony trek to Glenariff, so if you stuck for a model ?

Quote:.Hey you are more than welcome , there are already some day trippers venturing up. Where bouts you from? Most likly the sat is your best bet as fri will be the arrival and partying, plan preparation .. Some have expressed interest in boating over to Rathlin on the Sat inclding me , Ushet bay sounds good, Sunday will be a model shoot in the Glens....

Sounds good, I will be coming up from Derry so not too much of a trek. Is everyone doing Rathlin on the Saturday or are there a group staying on the Antrim Coast. Remember that you can't take cars on the Rathlin Ferry, we took bikes with us last year, which was hard work as it was just too many hills.

I was up the Antrim coast on Monday, but the light was crap, so ended up as a scouting mission, but there are a few places I would go back too.

I have only seen this, it sounds like it would great fun, unfortunately a full weekend will be hard, if any daytrippers are allowed, I should be able to get up for the Friday or Saturday.

What are the plans for the 3 days ?

I did Rathlin Island last September, great spot, although not much in the way of wildlife at this time of year. I recommend doing Ushet Bay for the seals, great spot.
