Lunch 69

By SimonFletch
My sincere thanks to all who Commented and Voted on 'Lunch 68 - The Speckled Pigeon', with its over-applied red eye shadow being a favourite topic of conversation. They look like little avian boxers to me...!

Lynne went on a different tack and eyed up our Pigeon's bountifully meaty body. She thought farming them would be a good idea (and would make use of its feathers for hats, too...!). You could most probably get a few bob for the guano, as well, Lynne - it's amazing how much comes out of these birds; have you seen the state that Trafalgar Square is in, recently?! A cautionary word came from Keith, reminding me that I already have a project here in Kenya, namely the Lion's Stadium . Lynne opening up alongside that one, could result in letting the cat amongst the pigeons...!!

Peter referred to my tale about the Quails and their eggs and told about the Tulip trade in the Netherland being one of the first financial 'bubbles' to burst. Nathan came over all philosophical on us and quoted Confucius: If a man takes no thought about what is distant, he will find sorrow near at hand. Very good, mate, the only one of his I can ever remember is Girls who lie on bedsprings, get offsprings Blush

Phil, my 'neighbour' in Scotland, gave me a useful weather update, after I made a comment on his beautiful image of Nairn Beach . Gratefully received, Phil, especially since I have just lost the signal from my Solar Panels. Modern technology, Pah..!

Today's 'Lunch'
The final in the series of The Black-shouldered Kite, sees the hairs on the back of his neck standing up. He had spotted his nemisis, The Black Kite, circling above him. Taking a last tug at the depleted carcus of the baby Monkey, he is then shown with his tongue hanging out - Yuk..! Finally, flying from its perch, with a backward glance it drops its prey, as if saying to the Black Kite "You're welcome to the rest"..!

No upload from me tomorrow, it's Game Park Day...Grin

Have a Fantastic Friday, everyone ...!

Simon

Four excellent shots featuring this handsome predator. The backward glance in V4 could be entitled 'Respecting The Pecking Order.'

Never thought of the guano potential of your Speckled Pigeon, but it makes farming this beastie an even better prospect! I will do the culinary and millinery, you can deal with the ........!

A terrific set of natural history images Simon, that red eye is amazing. "The backward glance in V4 could be entitled 'Respecting The Pecking Order.' " Something you could do well to heed, you don't want to be upsetting LJ, it could be like the tale of the blackshouldered kite and the black kite, with you cast in the role of the blackshouldered kite of course!!!WinkGrinTongue

Another great set of shots of this wonderful bird. They have all been excellent.
Just saw a comment from glostopcat on one of his postings that you have not been well. I do hope that you are feeling better soon and that you will be back posting on here again before too long. In the meantime happy travels.
