Something from the Garden

By NDODS
Thank you so very much for all your great comments and votes following yesterdays upload 'Reflective Journey'

Another image outside my comfort zone. Capturing flowers for me and I am sure so many others is somewhat of a challenge. There is simply so much to think about, it's a bit like playing chess I suppose, one false move.....

Not a good night, but hey ho life goes on in the Bungalow.

I hope that you all have a great day ahead.

Everything went fine yesterday at the hospital, I am off back later on to have some repeat X-Rays on my leg/ankle after I received a telephone called from Orthopaedics last night

Regards Nathan

Hi Nathan, thank you for the Compliment, it was very kind, I did try and get an accolade for you but EPZ would not accept my suggestion sorry. Flowers as you say are not as easy but it's good to try new things. I have always found on this type of image to make it a little darker , maybe F/11 with the same speed would have given a little more detail. But a dam good effort and don't give this up please. A super close-up, Nathan - you'd expect photographing flowers to be easy, as they're not going to get up and run away! But they still tend to move right when you press the shutter Wink Nice onw, mate Wink

You choose a difficult colour to capture.
A bit less light would probably have give more detail.
Good composition coming in from bottom corner.

Lovely capture of this spiky puffball Grin

So true what you said about capturing flowers. All too often I'll notice something in the background later on and go, "Bah...if only I'd stepped a bit to the left and shot this..."

Hope you feel well Nathan.

This one is not terribly sharp. Assuming you were say 10 feet away, f/5.6 would give you 0.17 feet in front, and the same behind your chosen focus point. So a smaller aperture, and underexposing slightly might have given you a better result. I downloaded it a tried sharpening with little luck, so the original may need to be sharper. The flower sort of "glows", which will affect sharpness. This is not uncommon with white and yellow flowers, so lots of practice to keep you busy!

Superb pure white and yellow. Very very beautiful,Nathan !GrinGrinGrin ---- I sincerely hope that you feel better tomorow!!!!!!!!!! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin ---- Jukka.

White flowers can be tricky but I like the overall "pure" effect.
Thanks for the mono suggestion on my Goth, I'll have a go at it(but not very good at doing these kind of things - yet!)the coming days!
Take care
Bloomin' lovely Nathan. (there's allways one, & it's usually me) A good photograper would have got the whole head sharp, a great photographer knows when to break the rules. Keep on breaking photo rules, but try to lay of the bones for a while. Best regards, Si

This is beautiful its nice to hear someone say its not easy photographing flowers because at my club quite a few people think that its dead easy and my work is often overlooked as being too subtle for outside competition even though I have a scoring range from17?20 to 20/20 recently Keep up the good work - Elizabeth xx
