Ummm yummy

By pentaxpatty
Hello and good morning to everyone,

Thank you all so much for votes and comments, also for correcting me, Great tit, not blue tit, I know a Robin and a wren but those little ones! so thank you to the ones that pointed me in the right direction. Although not a birder in anyway I do love to see them come to bird feeder and hop down on to the path for a few crumbs.

Today's photo is from the Botanical gardens, the naughty squirrel runs up to the crocus, bends then open and eats the saffron stamens and then throws the petals away, I have never seen this before, we watched them for quite a while. I wonder if there is protein in the stamens to feed them . V2 and V3 caught in the act.

Have a good day what ever you get up to.

Love and light Pattty xSmile

I must say I would be a bit upset if a squirrel did this to my crocuses.

They will eat anything - including your cables if they can get into the roof space.

However, three good pictures.

One water pistol for hire girls. Usual fee of course. Saffron ! These guys have expensive tastes. Maybe the swallowed a bag of rice first. Partial to saffron rice myself. All joking aside, these are super pictures of your naughty squirrel, something I've never seen before. And I doubt if others have as well. So thanks for sharing Patricia.

Smile Smile Smile

this attracts a bit of humor from the comments, Patty, and so I got to thinking..

I think you must have hid away his real food.. and that's why he chose to munch your croci.. doesn't look too happy without the real food, I must say..

a lovely photograph of this wonderful rodent, who munches the croci with unheard-of apetite, even though appearing not too pleased with it..

Lovely photo`s Patty! At least he is outside!! I remember when our daughter was just 6, she was given a Persian cat. What an ultimate monster!!! The damn thing was not housetrained at all, and used to do it`s business indoors, in the most inacessible places you could imagine! The last straw was when I found my Papheopidelium (rare form of slipper orchid) dying in a 250 mm pot. On investigating I found most of the soil scratched out, and a huge defacation in the pot, which was just covered by a thin layer of sand! I traded this marmalade coloured monster in at the SPCA for an ordinary moggie, which gave no trouble at all. The absolute storm of tearful wailing and crying can only be imagined, and carried on for about a week. Kari did not speak to me for about a month after this! Love M&M

Heck no wonder the lovely crocus are all smashed to bits, we have been thinking it was the kids running on them in the gardens and the snow smashing them down here

These three rascal squirrel images are a delight and you have the medals to prove it. I often wonder about squirrels when they eat mushrooms. Guess they know the toxic from the delicious somehow. TG
