Posh Restaurant

Nothing like a bit of Boiled Rat with Rice -- DOG stew isn't bad either -- it was very tasty !

Chingford Festival by pentaxpete

Chingford Festival

Thanks -- pity about the rubbish bins and stuff in the background -- I was using a wide focal length and on a 'digital' it gives much more Depth of Field than on a 'Film Camera' due to the smaller Sensor size so I could not get it out of focus BUT the local newspapers don't worry about such things and USE it !

Russian Industar lens by pentaxpete

Russian Industar lens

Thanks -- just a 'test' really to see how lens performed at full aperture by available light. Depth of field is very narrow -- his eyes are just 'out' I focused by 'swaying' back and forth watching the rangefinder spot.

Lunch Break, Brick Lane

Yes-- when you are in Brick Lane you can photograph 'other Tourists' no worries -- everyone seems to have a camera !

Hair Cut -- Brick Lane, London by pentaxpete

Hair Cut -- Brick Lane, London

Yes-- it's 'Busy' as they say at Camera Clubs when the Judge comments -- but there were so many reflections and I got only ONE frame off and moved before they saw me .

1960's Jazz fans

Yes-- I may be over 50 years OLDER now but my memory is still good and it helps that a lot of info was written on the back of the prints ---

Man and Mannequin by pentaxpete

Man and Mannequin

I put a 16x12" Darkroom print of this into Brentwood Photo-Club's Monochrome Print Comp. and the Judge said it was too 'Posed' and it was NOT -- a real 'candid' shot !

Little Bee Eater by rontear

Little Bee Eater

I took that same bird on that same branch ( well -- I Think it was) in 1982 on a visit with the Pentax Club of Great Britain on Kodachrome BUT the Post Office lost my films so I never saw my Bee-eater photo !
Regards from Brentwood -- Peter

Brentwood Pensioners by pentaxpete

Brentwood Pensioners

Thanks -- you are my 'Biggest Fan' !! After over 60 years in 'Club Photography' I should know that 'back-lighting' makes for good B&W Photos ! One of my 'Beginners' Photos won me several awards when I was 16 years old using a 1953 British 'Ensign Selfix' rollfilm camera with a 'back-lit' photo

Evzoni by TheAviator

Well caught -- you must have poked your lens through the usual crowd of 'Tourists' OR Lately 'Greek Protestors' to get this !

By: TheAviator

Technically about x2 OVER-Exposed but I echo the other comments on the 'Interest' of the photo .
Regards from Dark and Dismal Brentwood, Essex in Winter !

This is a bit 'better' for an 'interesting photo 'point of view than your next one as on THIS one you have the larger amount of Blue water and the tree to contrast with the Orange of the rocks so it makes for more 'Colour Contrast' -- I see you are a 'Beginner' -- well wish I could have taken such photos when I started in 1951 with my Mum's Kodak Brownie Hawkeye box camera and ex-RAF WWII surplus film !

Sandwich Man by pentaxpete

Sandwich Man

I think it would have been much better if you could have got there at a different time when the light was more slanting but I know how difficult it is -- you have to go on the 'Tour Bus' and keep to the timetable !

By: TheAviator

Yes -- No 'PhotoShopping' indeed -- well you were brought up on Real FILM photography !

No -- this is the exact 'image' as I submitted -- maybe some has been cropped off the base by ephotozine.

Buzz Lightyear by pentaxpete

Buzz Lightyear

Yes-- thanks - the judge said I should have done a much more 'Imaginative treatment' -- well, it defeats the object of the Competiton which is for a ' Record Photo' where NO ' treatment' is allowed !

Paper Crown ! by pentaxpete

Paper Crown !

Thanks to all my 'Fans' for viewing -- well, I held the camera vertically and 'guessed' the framing ! Camera takes standard 24x36mm size images. I sit outside the 'Ladies' Shops ' waiting for Wife and Daughter and click away on unsuspecting subjects !
