Cold feet

By perrism
This little thing's been hanging round for a while, it seems to like drilling holes in the lawn - I shot it (not literally) through the window this morning. My only other bird-photo was a crummy shot of a magpie, so I'd be interested in anyone's comments on this one.

Nice Green Woodpecker - one I'd certainly be pleased with. I like the diagonal line it makes across the frame.

Never seem one - never mind one on a lawn! Great capture so to speak! Cheers, Martin

Beautiful.
They eat ants tunneled in the grass.

Thank you! I knew it was a woodpecker, but that's about my limit. My main moan about this shot is the bird stayed in the shade and never ventured into direct sunlight.

Its a super shot. Great detail and of course quite a bird to capture. We don't see many around here

Well done to get this! These peckers are quite common round here, but they are incredibly shy, and very alert!

Well this is far from crummy, these ain't that easy to photograph, so pat yourself on the back for this one.

Pure beginner's luck! With the narrow DOF and the bird's quick movement, getting this anything like in focus was a nightmare. I raise my hat to anyone who photographs birds regularly!

Lovely shot.

I chased a pair of these for over an hour this morning with very little to show for it.

Good capture. I find it's always difficult to these types of shots.
