Blue tits nesting - hopefully!

Photography and music are my two passions. I edited photography magazines for around 20 years and launched the UK's first digital imaging magazine. I founded ePHOTOzine and was owner / publisher until 2013. The photos in my portfolio are ones I like from shoots I do in any spare time I have.

Blue tits nesting - hopefully!

The blue tits are back in the garden nest box again. This year there was less effort working on the hole, and now they're preparing the nest. Last year the neighbour's cat caused them to abandon the nest before eggs were hatched. Hopefully the same wont happen this year.
I set the Olympus OM-D up on a tripod about a meter away from the box and used the 40-150mm to get a reasonable crop. I used the Hama Giga T Pro II remote trigge r to fire the camera from a safe distance. A bit of lazy photography - me sitting basking in today's sun, and triggering the camera every time the blue tit landed on a specific twig.
I tried three angles and liked this one for the more interesting background. Because of location I couldn't get a totally clean studio style background but I kinda prefer this natural style setting (apart from the big blob or pink which is a bush in front of the tree).
