New Road

Photography and music are my two passions. I edited photography magazines for around 20 years and launched the UK's first digital imaging magazine. I founded ePHOTOzine and was owner / publisher until 2013. The photos in my portfolio are ones I like from shoots I do in any spare time I have.

New Road

The last few winters have caused chaos to many roads, causing potholes, cracks and uneven road surfaces so it's good to see that work appears to be finally happening around our area.
Surprisingly the country roads around the village of Bradfield have already had a makeover. They do look wonderful, but I don't understand why an area like this would take precedent over some of the busier and more central Sheffield locations. I'm sure they have their reasons. Cycling along this stretch will be a pleasure, but it's not that wide for cars. They seem to have worried less about width with more concentration on height. Could make interesting vanishing point shots for photographers too. I didn't have a wide enough lens with me, but do like how bright the lines were.

And at the weekend in Lincolnshire some idiot on a section of road being re surfaced caused a stone to fly up and crack my windscreen resulting in an insurance claim and a 75 excess payment! The t**t was doing about 60mph and overtaking on a stretch of road marked about every 50 yards with 20mph warning signs. Several words I don't often utter appeared out of my mouth.

Looks like a good surface for roller skating Smile

A few years ago when I was a youngster, I would be straight out on the roller skates whenever they laid a new tarmac road / pavement.
Concrete was not so good though as it usually had ripples in it Sad

How long before one of the utility companies dig the road up for " essential " maintenance work ?
