Photo365 - 336 - Paper cuts

Photography and music are my two passions. I edited photography magazines for around 20 years and launched the UK's first digital imaging magazine. I founded ePHOTOzine and was owner / publisher until 2013. The photos in my portfolio are ones I like from shoots I do in any spare time I have.

Photo365 - 336 - Paper cuts

A sheet of A 4 paper cut into five strips and placed on top of another and lit from above left. It's a bit of an optical illusion. No paper was folded. Each of the five strips were taped at one end and placed on their edge so they were about 1.5in high. Some didn't touch the base all the way along so let light through underneath. This created subtle tonal changes and the effect you see here.

I really like this composition with those wonderful lines, and as you say the tonal range.

I've been playing with a new filter I bought, Topaz Adjust, and thought this made nice testing material, so I had a go - I had it smooth out details in the paper texture, which put more emphasis on the lines and tones - quite a nice effect, but since I can't upload a picture in a comment on a blog post, I can't show it to you...

(Wouldn't that be an interesting thing to add as a feature to the blogs, being able to put a picture in a comment on a blog post? It's just an idea...)

Sounds interesting you could email but it would be good for others to see
So we should have an option to add pics in comments here too. I'll add it to the development list

E-mail is on its way! Nothing special, I just thought it looked good that way.
