Garden flower

By Pete
I've had a quick play around with a Pentax K20D and an old 50mm f/1.4 M lens this morning and came up with this using the lens wacking technique where you just hold the lens in front of the body detached so light can spill into the body and create extra flare.

Not heard of that technique before Pete but I love the result you've achieved

definitely a new one on me but a great result
A beautifully ethereal image , soft colours and shallow focus, the bokeh just adds a very special feeling to this lovely photograph, well done Pete deserves an award in my opinion. A place on a wall at the very least.

Wonderful effect Pete - will have to try this with my 50mm macro. The bokeh is so lovely and painterly and those spectral highlights also. A wonderful feeling of summer mood is created here.
I'll stop now...........

This is beautiful. So gentle and soft with that delicate and perfectly sharp flower in the f/g.
I wonder how many shots it took to get this goodie.

Love the dof and the bokeh, gives a really new fresh aspect to a floral image, don't know that I would be brave enough to try it thoughSmile Carole

Worked well Pete Smile

I went on to try and achieve similar effects using a compact with a fixed lens, I used a large filter and by holding this in front of the lens and tilting it at different angles created some interesting flare effects.

Love the effect & must give it a try, although I'm sure it's hard to do. There are some good videos on Vimeo about lens whacking, which I'd never heard of 'til my husband - rogerfry - drew your image to my attention.
