Easy Rider

By PeterBee
“Now for something completely different”….For me at least! This image was made at a steam rally at Harewood House last summer. One of the events was the arrival of several hundred Harley Davidson riders bringing toys for a children’s charity. I took lots of images, hoping to get one.

The main problem was the headlights and chrome from all the other bikes and even more problematic was the crowds watching their arrival together with a motley collection of ice cream vans and vehicles beyond the onlookers. I think that with careful use of layer masks, three different blur filters, a lot of tinkering with opacity levels and blend modes plus a lot of patience I’ve largely overcome the problems posed by the background

Thanks for looking. Worth viewing large if you can

This is excellent! Really love what you have done to isolate the bike(ers). Well worth the effort!

A really good result. And you've got not just a classic bike, but a classic bearded rider, lol! What a great picture, definitely worth all the tinkering Smile

I really like this. I don't feel that colour would add anything to it but then, I am a sucker for black and white. Andy

Excellent shot, well processed. Not an effect to use too often, mind you. Smile

I wholeheartedly agree, David. It suited the subject on this occasion and in any event, I wouldn't want to repeat the several hours (over several attempts) to get such a difficult selection right too often!!

Superb shot - reminds me of the days of the "trombone" zoom lenses where you zoomed in or out during the exposure,
