Great Black Backed Gull in flight with Manx Shearwater prey.

By peterjones
Great Black Backed Gull carrying prey: a hapless Manx Shearwater, Grassholm island in the distance.

FYI Grassholm is the third of the main islands off SW Wales in Pembrokeshire, the others being Skokholm from where this image was taken and Skomer the latter being well known to photographers; Grassholm is a major RSPB reserve with lots of Gannets!

Excellent shot Peter.
I could tell exactly where this was shot just from the thumbnail.
The GBBs are increasing in numbers, unlike the decline in herring gulls for example. Manx shearwaters seem to be doing ok despite what happens in this image.
