Kingfisher action

By peterjones
Kingfishers are delightful to photograph, most of my images are Kingfishers on sticks so it is really gratifying when I manage to catch one in action; this was taken at a local nature reserve and I just focused on the spot where the Kingfisher dived and shot many consecutive pictures starting just before the bird emerged; after a very high wastage I had just one pleasing photograph.

Tip: if you want to find out where your local kingfishers are ask a bird enthusiast; they are much freer with information than photographers; even better join your local bird club and/or nature reserve.

Another tip: they hate any kind of movement; many photographers come complete with 0000's of the latest whizz bang gear and never see a Kingfisher because they can't stop fidgeting.
