North Glen Shiel Ridge

By pfheyes
Thanks to everyone for their feedback on yesterday's image. Smile

This one is a view east along the North Glen Shiel ridge from Sgurr nan Spainteach, taken on a hike over the Five Sisters of Kintail last week. I quite like how the rockier terrain of the Five Sisters section of the ridge merges into the softer lines of the Brothers ridge.

There's no foreground on this, as this was taken late morning and the light was getting quite contrasty, especially with snow on the ground. I opted for a simpler composition, concentrating on the lines of the ridge, and the light/shade on the mountains.

Hope you like. Please look at the large if you can.

Cheers,

Pete

Thanks all.

LOL John, I haven't been on EPZ for a while, but I spotted the new-ish facility to change the username and I jumped at the chance. I've hated my username since I pretty much chose it (it's a bit twee!).

All the best.

I'd never have made it that high! Total wimp when it comes to anything higher than a chair!
Brilliant shot, Pete; beautifully composed and shot.

Great shot along the ridge. Done all the summits on both sides of the glen but not many photos. Had not quite got the bug back then.

Classic Pete Heyes mountain image, a great mountain ridge with dancing dappled light flitting across the jagged peaks of the sisters. Wonderful image my friend, one of your great ones.

Thanks very much, Dougie. I hope your hands are better (judging by the commentry, it looks like it has!).

I don't think this one fits the EPZ landscape template, but it's certainly one of my favourites as it reflects what it's like up there. It brings back memories of a cracking day on the mountain. Glad you like it too.

As guilty as anyone for the EPZ template, but I like this because it breaks that mould. Brave because of no foreground, but works very well for just that reason (he says while clinging to the chair!). Nice one Smile

Hi Martin - no knocks intended to anyone re: the template comment (there's enough images of mine that meet that!), but I like breaking away from it now and again. I'm sure it meets other landscape cliches fully, you can't get away from it with landscapes. Smile

Hope you're well.
