Great Spotted Woodpecker (Female)

By phil_j
For the first time in ages, due to a number of factors (health& work) I had a day to myself with the camera yesterday.
Planned shooting Little Owls from a hide, but also managed to capture a number of other species as well during the day. I will be uploading a number of shots from my day on here as and when I can.

This tonights is a female Great Spotted Woodpecker, looking a little worn out and shabby from endless trips to feed a demanding fledgling that was nearby.
Here she was taking a few minutes of "Me time" before the next round of feeding trips.

Thanks for looking

Phil

Trust all is well Phil

They don't half work hard to keep the young ones fed

When the male of the pair at the woods got killed a few years ago now, the female literally wore herself to death, trying to keep on top of things
