The Roman Forum

By TrevBatWCC
Another from the archives until I go off to Venice, this was taken back in April 2008, before I joined EPZ, and Iíve only ever uploaded a couple of images from Rome, so thought another was worth an airing. The Forum is located in a valley that is between the Palatine Hill (where this is shot from) and the Capitoline hill. It began as a market place, but became the economic, political, and religious hub, town square, and centre of all Rome. It was expanded to include temples, a senate house and law courts. When the Roman Empire fell, the Forum became forgotten, buried and was used as a cattle pasture during the Middle Ages. To the left is the church of Santa Francesca, and of course beyond, the Colosseum.

I have never seen a view from Rome like this, Trev, showing up the Colliseum and so much else of the ancient ruins. There is so much to take in here...will need to come back for a further squint later.

A superb shot of Rome . I can't understand why this has not been uploaded by you before Trev . and have to agree with Ronnie that there is so much of interest in this shot and I have never seen a view similar to it and certainly when I went to Rome about 3 or 4 years don't remember a view quite as good as this . Awarded my weekly award for this and really love it ...Great work ....Phil
