A New Old Church

By philipr
This Church is in the town of San Cristobel in the Dept of Potosi in South Eastern Bolvia. the town up until about 5 years ago was some 20 km away from its current site which happen to be on top of very rich mining site (think it is silver but dont remember). The mining company couldnt get the towns people to move out until they offered them all job and to move the entire village to a new site and build them new homes. The villagers demanded that the 400 year old church be moved ston by stone and rebuilt in teh new town also and this is how it looks today. Theyve actually done quite a nice job of the rebuild but it still seems a strange thing to happen to a piece of history.
