Laguna Glacial

By philipr
This is a shot of Laguna glacial , a glacial lake next to a glacier (surprising enough). It is a popular trek from a small village called Sorata in the North Yungas area of Bolivia. It is at an altitude of just over 5000 metres (about 1600 feet) so I was glad the guide helped me lug some of my camera stuff up there including my hefty tripod. Got my feet a bit wet trying to get this shot by stepping out into teh lake across stones and standing the the shallow parts. The water is pretty damn cold! A really nice place though and a good little 3 day trek.

Looks an absolutely fantastic place - very nicely captured and presented. I can almost feel the chilly water. Nice one. PhilG

Andy - no I didnt climb the glacier but I did but just a week or so ago I climbed Huana Potosi , a 6088 metre mountain which is has some large glacier on it but is mostly compressed snow. Technically an easy climb but the altitude really takes it out of you - I didnt take my camera stuff for that as its too heavy.

cheers for comments/clicks everyone
