Views 83 Unique 38 Award Shortlist

By Philo
This is my niece, Grace, taken in the grounds of the Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract. I did ask her to remove her sandals but she flat refused. She does have a bit of a tan having just returned from a short break in Portugal.
I have another version I will hopefully upload tomorrow.
Comments and mods appreciated.

What a difference the Nikon is making to your shots, - both in quality and the added confidence and ability to be creative.

This is a lovely shot.

Lovely shot, and I don't think the sandals matter as the attention is all held on her face

Why would you want to remove the sandals? - it's the way she was...

a beautifulyy caught portrait with effective depth of field, one which you'll obviously cherish, but also at another level is an excellent child portrait in its own right.

A tiny tiny niggle - I'd crop or clone away the wee bright highlight area middle top..

Nice work

I would be more than happy with this. You got down to 'kid level', which is why the shot is so effective. Nice detail, perfect exposure and (as mentioned) correct aperture for the shot.
While I am not overly distracted by the light area that was mentioned, I would clone it out. Having said that, when I first viewed this an hour ago I didn't notice it. Hehe.
Beautiful shot. Beautiful subject. One to cherish.

Thanks guys, I was expecting a few comments about the sandals which is why I qualified it initially. It seems I didn't need to worry about them but I just thought she would be better with bare feet!
Fair point about the bright area, that should be easy to clone out.

Thanks Frank, a bit more space on the left would certainly do no harm.
