Brexit Night, Bolton Town Hall

By philtaylorphoto
31 January 3020. Brexit Night in Victoria Squarem Bolton. The Town Hall was lit up in red, white and blue for the occasion. Amongst the crowd ranging from those who had been drinking in Wetherspoons, those proclaiming their support for Tommy Robinson, shouters of loyalist slogans and local councillors, flag wavers, families and one gentlemon from a fairground, who had hoped to sell flags, and was disappointed that the council hadn't put something on, was a small group who attempted to set fire to a flag, which unfortunately was fireproofed due to EU regulations, and refused to burn.

Not sure if I overdid the slow synch shutter, it certainly didn't make the page, but overshadowed by the failed flag burning that made the Mirror and the New European, and a big regional.

Have a user award, Phil, for embodying the fuzzy thinking and flag-waving happiness of the occasion...

As far as I'm aware, the EU has also stubbornly refused to burn.

Surely flag-waving jingoism.

One of those nights where you are told, you've got two pages to fill, and we want an online gallery. I think they were expecting last night of the proms, but they got one nation tories, football hooligans, Ulster Loyalists, the EDL and some local councillors who looked a bit embarassed to see the others.

This one certainly was. I think the desk expected more.

Even jingoists can wave their flags happily (as wel las angrily)...

But yes...
