I've never posted this photo anywhere before and it is fairly old (hope that doesn't break any rules!).

The baby is my daughter who arrived very prematurely tickling the scales at 1lb 9oz (about 800gms, I think).

The hand is mine and as I don't have large hands you can get an idea of scale.

Technically, I doubt that I could take the shot with my current 30D (no flash or tripods allowed in intensive care) but the Fuji with it's small size and viewing done via the rear LCD was ideal (1/13 sec f2.8). The Fuji was my first digital camera and vignetting was done to remove some of he medical gubbings!

I took a lot of photos at this time because, well....I'm sure you can finish that sentence off. Most do not make comfortable viewing.

My daughter is 5 now & despite some serious heath problems, she is the happiest 5 year-old you could wish to meet (if a little spoilt!). I'm immensely proud of her.

I'm still not sure that I should submit this; it's not the most technically correct picture.......but I'm clicking the upload button anyway!

Thanks for looking

As well you should upload and be proud, your not breaking any rules either as far as I am aware and there is no rules on being a proud parent ..... As you said yourself technically not the best but still a very important image to have and treasure thanks for sharing Colin

Very touching, I love the composition - the hand of an obviously elder person, carefully touching the even obvious very, very young life. One to always remember and never too old to be shown.

This is so lovely. Reminded me so much of my daughter, she was born early, weighing only 4lb 4oz. They are born to worry us for the rest of our lives, but we can't help but love them Smile
