Spellbound

By phiso
My daughter. She never sits still for photos so I have to be quick! No time for a tripod so it was a case of resting against the furniture and hoping for the best!

Took 5 shots, 3 of which were good (in my opinion!). Available light only.

Thanks for looking & please let me know what you think!

I think this is a lovely shot and very well grabbed. The main portrait is very good but I think it would be well worth some work on the image (software). The background is a little intrusive. The cards in particular, the flower in top left and the plate immediately above your daughters head. If these were darkened or carefully cloned I think the end result would be a cracker. Great family shot to be enjoyedSmile

Thanks for the comments - I had tried to remove some backgound bits (especially the chair) by cloning but it never really worked. I hadn't thought about darkening the background though, it sounds a really good possibility of at least reducing the intrusion.

Thanks very much - I'll try it tonight (as I'm supposed to be working now!).

You've captured such a lovely, natural moment - your daughter looks so beautiful. I'm inclined to agree with Phil about the background - it so happens that EPZ's photo month topic today is selective focus and there's a tutorial - see this link - which you might find useful, as using this method you can blur the background, leaving the main subject sharp. It really is very easy to do and very effective!

Brilliant! Thanks Theresa....I've struggled so much with layers in PS but this looks a cinch! I'll have some fun with the image tonight and post the result tomorrow.

Such a helpful bunch!

Cheers

Very well done, available light with a candle is not an easy thing to do - I've tried it with a wide range of results. This is very nice and homely
