Caterpillar of Emperor Moth

By photowanderer
A fully grown caterpillar of the Emperor Moth going down a path in the Pentland Hills. Hadn't heard of this creature before, so it was interesting to find out what it was. The caterpillar feeds mainly on heather but has a large range of plants on its menu, including Bog Myrtle and Brambles. The spectacular adults emerge around late spring. Got it of the path just before some bikers came down it.
