This scrub cedar clings to life on a plateau in Utah....although trees all around him are dying, he refuses to give up.

I t may not be, but looks like a bristlecone pine. They are pure desert trees, used to surviving in dry, very dry conditions. Grow slowly, sometimes seemingly not at all. And are the oldest living things (I think) on earth.

Not a very hospitable habitat.
A good and unusual picture of this survivor!
