185 Empty Chairs

By pink
The temporary memorial in Christchurch, New Zealand to all those that lost their lives in the 2011 Earthquake.
All the chairs are different hoping to portray the different characters that sadly lost their lives on the 22nd February 2011. Christchurch is still being rebuilt some 6 years after the disaster.

Such an unusual memorial, but one that has so much impact on the viewers emotions, such a sad tragedy, one that man has no control over. The varied styles of chairs.really grabs at one's heartstrings.

A very evocative idea for a memorial emphasising absence. The carrycot really hits home.

A surprisingly powerful memorial, which a lot of thought has gone into. It did not make sense until I read your copy. Well observed and shot, Ian.
