Posted on: Church Photography Tips
I used to photograph old/medieval churches regularly.
I found it essential to use a lens with no geometric distortion (barrrel/fisheye). eg. Is that column actually bent like that or is it the lens?
To 'correct' perspective I use a very nice Photoshop/Paint Shop Pro plugin from Altostorm. It is not a problem with the zoom lens on my camera but it can also be used to correct distortions.- 24 Jul 2013 5:46PM

Still looking from 2005!
I must have a 'live' EVF with deep eye-cup, swivelling screen, on- camera flash and at least the availability of a 24-120mm equiv. distortion-free zoom lens. No need for video but a vastly faster EVF would be nice...- 9 May 2013 7:16PM

Posted on: Fujifilm X-S1 Bridge Camera Review
My heavily used 2006 Sony DSC-R1 is bound to expire sometime. Any replacement must have an EVF at least as good and no geometric lens distortion throughout its (admittedly limited 5x optical but perfectly adequate for me) zoom range (one reviewer did find 1% barrel at 24mm equivalent).
I live in the back of beyond and have no camera shops nearby which would stock the like of the X-S1 so I could look at one. A pity then that the ISO grids in the review were not taken at the 6.1mm focal length (or were they too horrific?) and also an indication of what data if any can be seen in the EVF.- 15 Jul 2012 12:31PM

It is great that there may at last be a replacement out there with hopefully at least as good a lens. A worry is that LCD display on top. I will miss the see-everything mode out of the three modes of the R1's truly live EVF and matching screen. I hope it has what I call the exposure mode with histogram and over-exposed areas indicated and that I can see the effect of such as different white balance settings before I take the photo. I will also miss the sideways swivelability of the R1's screen. Hopefully the RX10 will have much faster focusing and metering though.
