Little Ringed Plover with young

The Little Ringed Plover (Charadrius dubius) was absent from breeding in Britain until 1938, since then it has successfully colonised a large part of England and Wales thanks to man-made habitats such as gravel pits. The chicks leave the simple nest of small stones within a few hours and are almost impossible too see due to their camouflage.

I took this image under Shedule 1 Licence as they are a protected species in the UK.

One from a while back I've never shown thought you'd like it.

Fantastic capture! Excellent detail and I like the way you've (by the looks of things) caught the plovers attention. Becoming increasingly rare as well.
