There seems to be a halo around the bird. Is this two images merged?

Everything about this image is stunning except that halo which really jumps out especially on the thumbnail. Is it 2 merged images or have you either lightened the bird or darkened the background excessively??? It would be upsetting to find that it was merged I have to say

The image is NOT merged.
The halo in the background is caused by light coming through a gap in a bush behind the bird. If you look at my previous upload you might see what I mean.

Hope my previous comments didn't offend, they certainly weren't meant to be taken in that way Smile If it's a natural effect then fair play to you, it just looks quite strong especially around the tail that's all. Have you considered lightening the surrounding area a tiny bit to lessen the effect?

Either way as I said before it's a stunning image

No not offended at all Dennis. I can see your point entirely. I think your suggestion is a good one. I've looked at it again and as you say the thumbnail in particular does show up the halo effect!

Honestly I do not take offense. All for constructive crtiic!!
