South Gare - Seaweed

By pmphotography
I went to see what South Gare (Redcar) had to offer. Answer; a lovely beach with a nice sunrise over the headland. The whole area offers such a diverse scope for photography.

That's a grand shot. Only vague crit I could make is to be closer in on the seaweed. Not sure if that would make much of an improvement as it's a lovely image.

Grad helps this very simple composition. Good crop to square and restful - the type of shot often seen in furniture stores.

Nice shot, I agree with Andy about coming in closer on the seaweed.

The shot might also benefit from a TINY amount of fill flash to just bring out a touch of colour in the 'weed. Or you could take one shot with flash and one without and blend them as delicately as you wish in photoshop.

I've sort-of simulated the effect of both of these in a mod - just as an illustration.

Great feedback guys.

Malc_c - Yep I've definitely taken that comment on board regarding getting a bit lower down to the key focal foreground subject.

nice this, i like the banding effect and semi abstract nature.its a subjective thing but im not at all worried about the position of the seaweed or the proximity to it. for me the composition works quite well and i love the gold stripe running across the top/mid area.

i wonder if its a little dark and gloomy overall, and i think it might bounce a little more life into things with a brightening up. you could try lifting the mid tones and then a little tight s curve and maybe a little dodging on the highlights particually in the mid distance. additionally i would also suggest a crop of some of the dark grey area from the sky.

this is a really nice image and few tweaks would make it even stronger,
best regards
