I can imagine your sheer delight when you stumbled upon this one. Makes me feel I really must venture into the great outdoors a lot more! Nicely captured. I hope you experimented with varying depths of field and camera angles. If not you ought to get out there again and work it to the max. Click!

Actually Nick I didn't have much time to experiment. This was caught at the end of a long day in Keswick. It was next to the car park exit but I will definitely be going back, I've been after one of these red toadstools for ages.

Not often you see one inverted like this and still in such good condition. I'm pretty sure it is an Amanita muscaria also known as fly agaric but I am not an expert and others may disagree. I like the way you have been able to show the red top and the white underside.

Yep, looks like Fly Agaric. You could have centered it a bit better in the frame though; if you make a print from this file I'll bet you end up clipping the left edge of the cap.

Great shot PaulaSmileBeautiful colour and it looks at home amongst the leaves and bark.
It makes my Stinkhorn look pathetic. Malc and Mikesavage are correct it is a Fly agaric Amanita muscaria.

Beautiful fly agaric, Paula, with some lovely detail, especially the underside and stem. They don't usually make a dish-shape, so this is even more interesting. Well taken.

Watcha Paula,
excellent shot of the magic mushroom, Amanita muscari, fly agaric, this one's going over the top, when they're young they have a beautiful shiny red dome.

nice fly agaric, the caps tend to turn in on themselves as they mature, nice find, good shot.

Hi Pogs,It is a fly agaric.Did u know that they used to consume this species in old russia before Vodka was widely available It gave the same effect of ethyl alcohol ie. a feeling of intoxication. It is classed as poisonous and not for the table.
Some trivia for xmas!!
