    I think it is a very good photo of the youngster. I would assume with a large aperture the background has been blurred somewhat, resulting in the boy standing out in the shot, or as you put it "pasted" onto the picture.

    The white line I believe has been caused by the photo slightly askew in the scanner. (Still at the starting stage with the Epson). I have further shots of the pub from different locations. Will upload 1/2 when I get the time.
    Camera Pentax ME Super with Sigma 28-200mm lens. Film FujiColor 200.

    As regards the chair you will be able to find out more on google by putting in Busby Stoop. One story is that there was an RAF station in the area. One serviceman sat in the chair for a dare one evening. Driving back to camp he was killed in a road accident. I believe there were other mishaps to people, and that is why the chair was removed to Thirsk museum, and suspended from the ceiling to prevent people sitting in it.
