Old Castle Ruin

By Porthos
The original castle at this site was built in 1540 and was occupied by the O'Doherty Clan until 1610. When following the execution of the last O'Doherty Chieftan after a failed rebellion attempt the ownership was granted to Sir Arther Chichester the Lord Lieutenant. A restoration program was started at the site in 2012.

A dramatic sky, a low pov, some colourful flowers, lichen on the rock, and a good lead-in.....a lesson on how to make a ruin look good.

Such a nice image Derek, the sky is moody, while the flowers are bright. A wonderful combination. Pam
