Our nursery man and others insist that this is a Brandywine Crabapple tree--- even so the label--- the apples are fist size (my fist) --- rather more that the 1 inch diameter suggested--- have a great color and tasting a bit sharp.

Won't be long before I will be picking them---or raking them up!

They look very tasty even if a bit bitter: others here have got you slaving away at the cooker, it seems, Jenn.

why have they those black spots ??
my apples this year were attacked by some critters from inside.
Guess something had layed their eggs in them

At the moment I have six gallons of fruit wine fermenting ,Victoria Plum,Strawberry and all with Apple from the orchard.
Your apples seem very large for Crab Apples but if they give a sharp taste they would be a good addition to any dry-wine.

They're looking good although crab apples are a tad sharp for my taste. A bumper crop on my little trees on the allotment this year - Scrumptious, Red Devil and Katy GrinGrin

Ushering in the autumn with that nice tang of apples....the thoughts of apple jelly come to mind, and maybe some cider.

Makes me envious - it will be months before we have scenes like this in our location. Nice composition and light - they look real enough to pick right out of your image.

When you bite into an apple, what's worse than finding a worm? Finding only half a worm!
Sorry, Jennnn
The apple farms in our valley are getting ready to harvest the crops right now. Lierdalen is a well-known fruit-growing valley here in Norway.
Sharp image, like the taste of the apple?

Very rich colors, Jenn -- and a nice diagonal comp. formed by the placement of the two apples. Perfect DOF as well.
So, how can you find out what kind of apples these really are? They do look tasty. One thing that we don't get out here in CA is locally grown apples. Most come from the state of Washington but they never seem to live up to the NY and PA apples.
