By Fefe
Hi folks..... now this one... I am uploading while holding my breath, not sure how this will go down, I have done a bit more processing than usual, nothing dodgyTongueTongue its all there, just a few extra tweeks to bring out the colour and shadows/highlightsSmile The thing I am totally unsure of is with the fish heading out of the image? Is it a bad lead in?..................Ok I cant hold my breath any longerSad going blue in the face hereTongueWinkGrin

Thankyou all for C&C yesterday, apologies for mostly votes yesterdayBlush hope to get to comment more todayGrin

well I would like to see it cropped just above the birds..

A very hard image to get right.
It very busy fish in F/G.
Birds in centre of image the Boats in B/G.
There no real focal point.
I saying that you cought a great record image of that time on that day.
Wel;l done..

V.1 for me, Diane, I think the crop in V.2 is too tight, and too close to the seagulls. Certainly a fair few fish there, are they babies, or ready to eat? Carol

Fascinating - life above water level, life below...
V1 works best for me, and it's good use of portrait, creating a direct route from the eye from the foreground and up towards the horizon.
I like the idea of going in closer in V2 but the boats top right seem rather awkwardly cut off.

A great capture, Diane - irrespective of which direction the fish are heading - and both versions work well, but the original V1 is my fave Wink

Well surprise surprise, the fish haven't read 'The Rules' as dictated by the Photo Mafia, how remiss of them!

They are Harbour Mullet and the chances are they are rushing towards food. People have great fun feeding them along with other species in Moraira near the Spanish house, and the frenzy is just like this one. You have captured a wonderful phenomenon here and it is in context. There are a number of possible crops, but whatever pleases you is best.

I think it looks fine as it is.
If you had included more of the boats on the right, with their reflections, then you could have effectively cropped just below the horizon.
You can breathe now, it's a good image, with the fish as foreground interest, and the format is perfect.

Vert nicely taken Diane, not easy to take because of the distants in all the elemnts, byt is a good shot, plenty to see.

An uncommon shot to have such a shoal of fish.
Very lovely capture.

v2 is a much better crop for me Diane. The sky in v1 pulls your eye upwards and out of the frame. The gulls balance the fish and the boats give the context and scale without taking over the image.

I like your image in V1, Diane, it's a well composed shot and a pleasure to look at.
V2 doesn't work for me though, for the reasons others have already stated. And I think those gulls must be a bit dim if they don't know where the grub is.

Lead in?....rules?....there aren't any rules, they're all myths so forget about them. They're for camera club judges and people with no imagination ( often the same thing )...just concentrate on what your eyes tell you.

Alan
Think I'll opt for V1 too! I'm also surprised the gulls aren't hovering above the fish, ready to pounce!
